Debra Murie, Professor

I am a marine fisheries ecologist focusing on coastal fishes and fisheries, but I have also worked in freshwater ecology and marine mammals. I have been a member of the Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences faculty since Spring 1996, and originally hail from British Columbia, Canada.

I received my PhD from the University of Victoria in Victoria, B.C., where I studied the comparative ecology and competition of two sympatric rockfish congeners. Previous to this I received my MSc from the University of Guelph in Ontario, where I studied the feeding ecology of harp seals.  I also completed my BSc Honours at the University of Victoria with my thesis on pelagic fur seals.
